A Middlesex restaurant was recently fined £17,500.00 with court costs of £2,500.00 for breach of hygiene and pest control issues. Officers from Ealing Council visited the premises for a routine inspection in May last year. They found mouse droppings on the floor and on several food surfaces throughout the restaurant. More mice droppings and a cockroach infestation were discovered in the public eating area and kitchen and food stores.
Another food shop in the borough was prosecuted for selling rotten fish and groceries covered with mouse droppings, the company was found guilty of eight food hygiene offenses. The councils investigation at the shop begun after a routine food inspection uncovered extensive mouse droppings and urine staining with food debris. The business was closed down to allow for the premises to be fumigated and given a deep clean. The court fined the business £2,000.00 per offence and they were asked to pay £1,442.00 towards courts costs
